The not so famous Test series that gave birth to the worlds most dominating team ever.

‘The Australians gave us a lesson in fast bowling,’ Holding says. ‘It was the hardest cricket I had ever seen. Our batsmen were being hit on the head, beaten around the body. And you heard a few things from the crowd that should not have been said – people saying “Go back to the trees” or “Go back where you came from”.’

‘The amazing thing about that series is that every time the Aussie fast bowlers hit, they drew blood,’ Holding has said.

‘Everybody was upset,’ Holding says now, ‘because that remark had connotations of racism. You have to remember that those were the days of apartheid in South Africa. And although Greig played for England, we looked upon him as a South African.’
